5 Genres That Are Dying Out (And 5 That Are Making A Comeback)

2. Remakes Of Classic Movies

Remakes have always been a contentious issue, but they€™ve been happening since the beginning of Hollywood. A lot of fans see remaking a movie to be the ultimate exercise in laziness, but the best ones €“ like The Thing or Dawn Of The Dead €“ are able to take the germ of an idea and do their own thing with it. Most remakes don€™t bother doing that, which might be the reason viewers have grown so bored of them. Nobody could work up the energy to be angry or sad about a remake of Poltergeist, Point Break showed €“ in the ultimate act of irony €“ it couldn€™t compete with The Fast & Furious franchise and the English-language remake of The Secret In Their Eyes didn€™t even have time to grab it€™s coat before being booted out of cinemas. Remakes of classic movies have really slowed down in recent times, and the few that do come along €“ say Ghostbusters €“ are greeted with either open hostility or utter indifference. They'll keep trying of course, but the glut of remakes of a few years ago has definitely calmed down.
