5 Genres That Are Dying Out (And 5 That Are Making A Comeback)

5 That Are Coming Back

5. Westerns

There was once a time in America when the Western was the most popular genre, but it slowly started to die out around the time of the Spaghetti Western. Clint Eastwood would occasionally make one, but Western fans mostly had to put up with Jonah Hex or Cowboys & Aliens to sate their appetites. Leave it to Tarantino to swoop in and gift them with Django Unchained, the success of which opened the salon doors for a brand new cycle of quality Westerns. In the last few years alone there's been a slew of quality horse operas like Slow West, Bone Tomahawk, The Salvation, Forsaken and The Hateful Eight. An all-star remake of The Magnificent Seven €“ featuring Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt and Ethan Hawke €“ is coming at the end of 2016, which hopefully means the Western will be sticking around for a little while.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
