2. The Justice League Movie
Why We Didnt Ask For It It was bound to happen. DC has confirmed that it will happen. After the runaway success of The Avengers, if only makes fiscal sense for it to happen. But, if it didnt happen, Im not sure many of us would lose sleep over it. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that DCs roster of heroes tend to work best within the confines of their own respective universes. Im just fine with Superman by himself, and the same goes for Wonder-Woman and Batman. Sure itd be cool to see them all in the same film, but I dont really have to. And then theres the rest of the roster. The Flash, Martian Manhunter, the Green Lantern, and Aquaman, not all of whom could (or should) carry their own stand-alone film, meaning that any Justice League movie will have to include a lot of backstory in order to get us invested in each of these characters, which begs the question: if we have both Superman, Wonder-Woman, and Batman in the same movie, do we really care about a guy who can run really fast? Lastly there are the respective tones weve come to expect from these characters, some of which I just cant see meshing on the big screen. Itd be difficult to take seriously the grit and darkness of Batmans struggle with Gothams underworld when we know theres some glowing green guy a few towns over who could probably take care of everything in an hours time, or reconcile Supermans plight as an alien amongst humanity when two thirds of the League hail from far flung planets.
Why Well Be Watching Anyways I hate to keep bringing up The Avengers, but it proved that a team-up movie composed of several franchises could work. So there is a possibility that the Justice League movie could end up being just as good, if not better. And even if its not, we may still finally get to see Supes throw down with The Caped Crusader, which, in my opinion, would almost make up for a crummy movie.
