5 Most Underrated Characters In The Star Wars Saga

3. Wedge Antilles

Wedge Antilles There is not one character who appears in all three of the Original Trilogy movies (other than our main characters) who survives to see the second Death Star blown to pieces. On top of that, he's an X-Wing fighter to boot. No pilot flies their ship into each battle through Episodes IV-VI and lives to tell the tale.... except for Wedge Antilles. Luke Skywalker comes close, but he had to sit the last one out since he was dealing with more pressing matters like, you know, trying to convert his father back to the light side of the Force. The Rebellion was made up of more than just our heroes and we see this prominently with Wedge Antilles. He started at the bottom of the totem pole, so to speak, when he was a starfighter pilot with Luke Skywalker during the Battle of Yavin. Wedge then took over Rogue Squadron after the Battle of Hoth, finally becoming Red Leader during the Battle of Endor. Maybe at this point they figured he was good luck, because he led the run into the second Death Star alongside Lando Calrissian and fired the final blows into the heart of the Empire. Star Wars fans also realized how essential Wedge was to the Star Wars universe with his superb skills and tactics as an X-Wing pilot because his character spawned countless numbers of Expanded Universe books, comics, and he's even included in some Star Wars video games. This guy deserves major props! He survived all three movies, and for that, he gets to be on this list for no other reason than being totally awesome.
