5 Movies-Within-Movies We NEED To See (And 5 That Would Suck)

3. We Wish We Could Watch: Stab from Scream 2

Stab Preview Scream 2
Dimension Films

This fictional slasher series is first referenced in Scream 2, the surprisingly smart sequel to Wes Craven's hit meta-horror film Scream. Part of the Scream series' self-reflexive commentary on the horror film industry, the Stab series (which, according to the events of Scream 4, now comprises of seven films) parodies all those schlocky slasher franchises who continued long past their expiry dates.

The first three films in this fake franchise are based on the life of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), the central protagonist of the Scream series. The next four films are, according to the characters of Scream, far weaker than the original trilogy and feature outlandish plot points such as time travel.

While all seven films are referenced at various points of the Scream series, we see glimpses of only Stab and Stab 7. Most prominently, Scream 2 opens with a sneak preview of Stab, and the premiere quickly becomes a crime scene when two attendees, Phil (Omar Epps) and Maureen (Jada Pinkett), are brutally murdered.

Although we only see snippets of Stab, the film certainly looks like a gory, blood-filled slasher film with all the makings of a horror hit.

Starring Tori Spelling as Sidney Prescott and Luke Wilson as Billy Loomis, we would honestly love to see this (presumably) super cheesy and super violent slasher hit.
