5 Movies You Didn’t Know Had Hidden Political Commentaries

1. and 2. Atlas Shrugged Part 1 & Part 2 Respectively

atlas-shrugged-part-two-2-to-1-image These are obvious. They are based on Ayn Rand's best selling novel that has become the bible for Libertarians and some Republicans. The only reason these films make the list is because no one has seen them! Just look at the box office reports for both films! The Atlas Shrugged movies moved Ayn Rand's creepily well predicted future into present day. We get the story of two capitalists bogged down by government, corrupt bureaucrats and growing regulations. Hank Rearden and Dagney Taggart are two people that believe in the beauty of pure capitalism and selfishness. However, the world around them has grown weary with the ideas of responsibility and ownership and thought. What happens instead is government grows and grows and becomes responsible for thinking for the good of people. They promote the idea that originality and ingenuity do not exist. Rather, we are all one and should remain as one. One succeeding is unfair to others so we succeed and fail as one. These films may not have gained much of an audience, but the book is one of the most influential ever written next to the bible (an irony that would not be lost on Ayn Rand if she were alive). The political commentaries of the films is obvious as it spins its notions of capitalism and corrupt government straight into today's headlines what with the financial crashes and over reliance on oil. There is a third film on the way the political commentaries will not let up. The producers have admitted to wanting to spread Rand's message of Objectivism to the masses as people grow more and more tired of political parties and media spin. What do you think readers? Am I just crazy, lazy, dumb or all of the above? Or am I onto something? What films do you think have hidden political commentaries or which films with political commentaries have been completely ignored? Sound off in the comments below!
