5 Obstacles We Can No Longer Accept In Horror Movies

4. No One Can Hear You Scream ... In Suburbia?

H20 1 You know how hard it is not to hear someone screaming? Really, really hard. Horror movies that take place in remote locations, sure, no one can hear them screaming. There are so many places that are really, really, far away from anything that not even police officers patrol the area... It's movies that take place in suburbia that bother me the most, considering there are parts of the United States that are becoming entirely too overpopulated. We see houses are 200 feet apart and yet, still, we're supposed to believe that no one can hear anyone screaming? People will think they hear screaming before they think they're hearing an owl. Sure, screaming is sometimes muffled by music or loud party guests, but if it is, the neighbors are already calling the police to file a noise complaint. And, no, no one screams like they're being stabbed multiple times when they orgasm. At least no one I've met. If I were to assume that someone who was being murdered was actually having an orgasm, I'm not ashamed to admit that I would quiet everyone down to listen. When the screaming stopped, we would immediately hear the thud of the body, the manic escape of the killer, or even the soft gurgles for help.

I am a college graduate of Penn State with two bachelors in the arts. When I'm not writing or performing, I am an SFX make-up artist for local up and coming films in the Houston area. I love horror movies, James Spader, and will watch anything suggested to me.
