2. The Third Wheel
The Third Wheel was a barely released and barely noticed effort by Miramax. It was a script from Jay Lacopo (who also stars) and was executive produced by Affleck and Matt Damon. Affleck took on a supporting role, which was smart because Luke Wilson shines in a typical Luke Wilson role. The film can be mostly laughed off when looking at the dumb poster, watching the lame trailer or even by reading the paper thin synopsis. However, The Third Wheel was sweet romantic comedy with a surprisingly strong script. Lacopo is hilarious in his showy role as is Affleck who completely dominates the scenes he's in. The Third Wheel is a film that never really got a chance to be appreciated the first time around. It's a film that goes unnoticed in Affleck's blemished filmography. I declare that it is a film worth seeing and a film that shows Affleck had an eye for good scripts even back in the days when everyone thought he was clueless.
