1. Jersey Girl
Oh yes. I'm going there. Jersey Girl was ravaged by critics and, to this day, is laughed at by internet trolls and film bloggers. What was so bad about it? Well, apparently everyone just wanted Kevin Smith to keep telling dick jokes and any film starring Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck in the same scenes was bound to be made fun of to no end. Alas, the people who have seen Jersey Girl and gone in with an open mind can probably attest to the fact that it is a harmless and sweet film with a surprising amount to say about love and fatherhood. Smith put a lot of personal energy in the film and it shows. Yes, the film is predictable. Smith takes a typical Hollywood story and injects his own talents and voice into it and it all makes Jersey Girl really work. From George Carlin's warm performance to a great scene between Ben Affleck and Will Smith, Jersey Girl is an under-appreciated effort that is meant as a tip of the hat to fathers everywhere.
