As the introduction of Johann Krauss proved in The Golden Army, the series can easily benefit from the inclusion of new characters from the comics to rock Hellboy's world. Ask fans of the comics who they'd most like to see make the leap from page to screen and names like Lobster Johnson and Roger the Homunculus are bound to pop up time and again, with Mignola's series offering numerous allies and enemies just waiting to be called upon. Even stripping away characters directly from the comics, the series has shown that it can succeed in bringing to life purely original characters, like Prince Nuada, that manage to fit in and feel entirely organic. Whether it utilizes characters from the source material or conjures up entirely original ones, though, a third film has a lot to benefit from and will please fans by injecting new blood into the series.
