5 Things That Definitely Won't Be In X-Men: Apocalypse

3. A Centralized Cyclops

The first student; the prodigal son, the field leader turned mutant general. Ostensibly the protagonist of the entire X-Men line.

Not that you'd know that from the movies.

In the first X-Men, Cyclops seemed to hold a leadership role within the team, but as a character he was nudged out by Hugh Jackman's charismatic Wolverine who took over the lead as Singer transformed his Cyclops into a bit of a douche.

In the years since, treatment of Scott Summers has only gotten shoddier, climaxing in him being unceremoniously killed off early in the third movie. Fans of the character may have celebrated the announcement of his return in the upcoming Apocalypse, but there's still evidence that this won't be the leader we know and love from the comics - at least not yet.

Talented as Cyclops' newest actor, Tye Sheridan, may be, with outstanding performances in critical hits Mud and The Tree of Life, he just doesn't hold the same star power as fellow castmates James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, or Sophie Turner. And in Hollywood, name recognition is key, superseding whatever discrepancies a movie might cause with its source material.

Given time, however, we could see Tye climb up to their level, giving longtime Cyclops fans the chance to see him shine.
