5 Things That Definitely Won't Be In X-Men: Apocalypse
2. Wolverine’s Attraction To Jean Grey
This falls in line closely with the Psylocke-Angel issue. Now, in the comics, Wolverine and Jean Grey were never canonically a couple, never sharing more than brief flirtations ending as Jean made it clear she loved Cyclops.
After the release of the first movie, however, the books began to mirror their big-screen relationship, paying closer attention to their interactions, turning what was once infatuation into a lost love-that-never-was.
This worked when both were adults. Centenarian though he might have been, Wolverine looked approximately Jean's age, so those lovelorn gazes he sent her way didn't give readers (or viewers in the movies' case) much pause.
But for Apocalypse, we're seeing a teenage Jean, played by an 18-19 year-old Sophie Turner. With Jackman well into his forties, whatever feelings Wolverine may still hold for her carry an unfortunate bent.
There are plenty of fish in the sea, Logan. Just try to avoid the small fry.
