If you're wanting to go into a remake of a bona fide cinematic classic from sixty-five years ago fresh, then perhaps you should rethink your approach to spoilers. Although, to be fair to a movie that doesn't deserve to be treated fairly, Ben-Hur 2016 doesn't exactly look like its pitched at those who highly-regard the original - as sold in the trailer it looks to essentially be Gladiator, but with chariots.

That may in partbe because Gladiator is Ben-Hur, only with swords, but the trailer certainly looks to be aimed at bringing in a new audience; it focuses heavily on the redo of that epic chariot race (faster and more intense than the podrace), because that's the biggest action beat in the film (and really all Ben-Hur is known for in the popular consciousness).

And yet despite thatthere's moments in here thatassumeyou have seen the original (or at least know the whole story);near the end of the trailer there's somespoilerificflashes of Jesus' crucifixion, alluding the the climactic meeting between our hero and the son of God. Obvious whether you've seen the Heston version or not, it just begs the question, "Who is this movie for again?"
