No, despite the name, this isn't an adaptation of the immensely popular Grand Theft Auto game. Rather, San Andreas is a 3D disaster movie in which an Earthquake devastates California, causing a helicopter rescue pilot (Dwayne Johnson) to team up with his ex-wife (Carla Gugino) to rescue their estranged daughter (the lovely Alexandra Daddario) before it's too late. Sure, it doesn't sound especially imaginative, but with the man-mountain of charisma that is Johnson and a supporting part for Kylie Minogue of all people, it's still likely to be a fun, knowingly over-the-top 3D ride in the vein of something like 2012.
