50 Huge Movie Characters That Were Completely Miscast
28. Keanu Reeves As Jonathan Harker - Bram Stoker's Dracula
Right now, Keanu Reeves has to be one of the most popular actors in the entire film industry. He is widely known as a genuinely decent human being, which goes a long way, he doesn't take himself too seriously, and he has been instrumental in bringing to life the likes of The Matrix and John Wick franchises over the years.
It feels at this point as though he can do wrong, but that hasn't always been the case. Audiences love him in an action movie, and always have, but what happens when he moves into the territory of a period drama is less beloved.
Bram Stoker's Dracula is of course a larger than life story, and being helmed by Francis Ford Coppola, had weighty expectations. Those expectations simply couldn't be matched by Reeves' turn as Jonathan Harker, where he felt out of his depth and in a role, a movie, and a genre that simply couldn't take advantage of his talents.
It didn't help that he was sharing the screen with the likes of Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins, who both have the ability to make anybody look bad by comparison, but it feels that no matter who else was cast in the movie, Reeves would have struggled, not least of all because of that accent.
