50 Infuriating Horror Movie Characters We All Secretly Wanted To Die

23. Paranormal Activity - Micah

Not quite. It's time to talk about Micah, a character who's somehow even more maddening than Ryan from The Gallows.

Micah (Micah Sloat) films the supernatural action in Paranormal Activity and behaves like a complete twit all the way through. Once the hauntings begin, he keeps making everything worse by ignoring the advice of various supernatural experts and doing things he was explicitly told not to do, such as buying a Ouija board and provoking the ghost in the process.

He's also horrible to his girlfriend Katie (Katie Featherston), so much so that it's a mystery as to why she's with him. As her sanity unravels, Micah fails to support her in any way and just keeps on filming her. At the film's conclusion, a now-possessed Katie does finally kill Micah, and it's so hard to feel sorry for him. If he'd just listened to her, maybe they would've been OK.

There are plenty of bad boyfriends in the horror genre; what makes this example so jarring is that it would appear Micah was intended to be a sympathetic character. Instead, he was unbearable, and one of the many things that makes this criminally overhyped film so underwhelming.
