50 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2022
32. The Flash
The DC Extended Universe may be an abject mess at this point, but there's hope that The Flash will be able to use timeline-hopping shenanigans to basically iron things out.
The film is heavily inspired by the beloved Flashpoint comic book arc, with Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) travelling back in time to prevent his mother's murder, whereby he encounters an alt-timeline version of Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton).
Ben Affleck will also appear as the DCEU's "prime" Batman, and Sasha Calle will play Supergirl, ensuring The Flash has the potential to be a majorly crowd-pleasing dose of fan service.
While there are some extremely eyebrow-raising rumours doing the rounds about the movie's implications for the DCEU, hopefully it'll at least give the speedster his own worthwhile, long-deserved solo story. Andy Muschietti (It) directs a script from Christina Hodson (Bumblebee, Birds of Prey).
The Flash releases on November 4.
31. Bullet Train
The new action-thriller from David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Hobbs and Shaw) could be one of 2022's big breakout hits, especially if rapturous early test screening reports are any indication.
The deliciously simple premise sees five assassins on a Japanese bullet train coming to realise their assignments are all connected - here's a guess: they're tasked with wiping each other out.
Brad Pitt and Sandra Bullock lead an impossibly loaded cast, including Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz, Masi Oka, Michael Shannon, Logan Lerman, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Karen Fukuhara.
With the box office landscape looking bleak for anything that isn't either a $200 million blockbuster or a horror film, hopefully this mid-budget actioner will remind audiences there are other things worth seeing on the big screen.
Bullet Train releases on July 15.
