50 Most Exciting Upcoming Comic Book Movies - Ranked

4. Deadpool (And Sequel)

Status: Shooting complete Due: February 12th 2016 Key Players: Ryan Reynolds is back as the Merc with a mouth, with Tim Miller directing, and Morena Baccarin, Vanessa Carlysle, Gina Carano, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein make up the top billed talent. Newcomers Andre Tricoteux and Brianna Hildebrand are also in as X-Men recruiters Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. But really it€™s all about Reynolds. What€™s It About: After being given a chance to beat a fatal cancer diagnosis and become a superhero in the process, former spec ops Wade Wilson is painfully transformed into motormouthed, outrageous mercenary Deadpool. He€™s hell-bent on revenge, just like Wolverine; he€™s impervious to permanent harm, just like Wolverine; and he swears a lot, just like€ Well, not at all like Wolverine, apart from that one time. Why We Should Care: Like the Punisher, Deadpool is one of those achingly cool characters who deserves big screen treatment, even with one misstep along the road already. And despite being the man in charge of bringing the character to life once, Ryan Reynolds remains the perfect choice for him again. Dredd might make fans nervous that €˜grown-up€ comic book movies aren€™t bankable enough, but Marvel€™s Daredevil proved R-Rated doesn€™t have to mean a flop, and there€™s clearly a commitment to the source€™s glorious outrage.
