50 Movie Death Scenes That Left You TRAUMATISED
10. Kate - My Sister's Keeper
Some deaths on the big screen can rock an audience because of how abrupt they are, a character's final moments coming as a shock when least expected. Others however are drawn out, sometimes for an entire movie, and it doesn't make it any easier.
There are plenty of films that tell the story of a character's declining health, but not only did My Sister's Keeper bring in the ethical questions of essentially forcing a sibling to donate whatever was needed to battle her sister's leukemia, the two that were going through such horrible things were unfairly young.
You could really pick any point in this movie and just cry, it is truly heartbreaking. Ultimately, Anna (Abigail Breslin) filed to emancipate from her parents when it came to medical decisions, but this was also what her sister Kate (Sofia Vassilieva) wanted. The older sibling knew that she would never survive another operation and was ready to die, which is something that no child should ever have to have running through their mind.
Kate and her mother went to sleep next to each other in the hospital, and Anna's voiceover telling that her sister died that night was nothing short of soul-crushing.
