3. Emanuelle Around the World (1977)
The title totally fits the bill this time as Emanuelle does what she does second best to flinging off her clothes - indulging in a spot of globetrotting. D'Amato takes Emanuelle to Iran, Hong Kong, India, America and Italy. Emanuelle flits off to India to investigate Guru Shanti, some sort of sex freak who claims to have invented the ultimate orgasm. She frolics with the Guru and other perverts and eventually realises he is talking a lot of BS. Emanuelle goes to Hong Kong where women are being trafficked and finally, she winds up in America to look into a human smuggling ring - where women are being forced to go to the Middle East. Many different prints are available of Emanuelle Around the World - some of which feature hardcore inserts and a particularly lurid and contentious scene of a woman having sex with an Alsatian dog. But apart from that, D'Amato keeps the film surprisingly light hearted and it zips along at a good pace with D'Amato's customary excellent cinematography and a marvellous score. Much meatier fare than Emanuelle in Bangkok, the film excites the viewer with not just the perenially gorgeous Gemser shedding her clothes but also a pretty coherent storyline. The theme song 'Picture of Love' is Oscar-worthy!
