6 Movie Franchises That Were Saved By A Reboot (And 6 That Were Doomed)

1. Saved: Batman

Such is the impact, influence and legacy of Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins, almost fifteen years later and it is still the yardstick by which all reboots are measured.

One of, if not the most important comic book movie ever made, the narrative took a refreshingly serious approach to the source material and focused on what drives and motivates a man to put on a rubber suit and punch criminals in the face every night, instead of simply stringing a bunch of action scenes together just because they looked cool. Which is just as well, because the set-pieces are the weakest part of the movie with Nolan yet to find his feet in terms of handling action.

A mere seven years after Joel Schumacher had conspired to kill the big screen integrity of the Caped Crusader with the interminable Batman and Robin, the latest reinvention of the iconic comic book character was not only arguably the best version yet, but went on to inspire an entire generation of blockbusters with the creative minds behind Iron Man, Casino Royale, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and others all admitting the influence Batman Begins had on their movies.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
