6 Movies That Predicted Horrific Disasters With Creepy Accuracy

1. Heather O'Rourke's Death - Poltergeist

Poltergeist is a creepy film even before you start looking into any conspiracy theories. With a family moving into a house built atop an Indian burial ground, ghostly shenanigans and jump-scares abound in plentiful supply. But look closer at the scary clown scene. It's creepy not just because of the clown that comes to life, but because of - dun, dun, dunnnnnn - the poster behind the little boy's bed.

It's a poster for the 1988 Super Bowl, which isn't particularly interesting until you remember that Poltergeist was released in 1982, and as far as anybody is aware, it isn't set in the future.

You might wonder why anybody would even pick up on a thing like that, or why it would be at all relevant to a list counting down instances of disasters and tragedies being predicted by movies. Well here's where it gets good (or bad): On 31 January 1988, the Super Bowl took place in San Diego. Living in San Diego at the time was a young actress named Heather O'Rourke, who you may remember as the other child in the scary clown scene. On that very day, she fell violently ill and - you guessed it - passed away. Needless to say, this makes the scary clown scene infinitely more freaky.
