6 Things New To Netflix This Week (Jan 25)

2. Natural Born Killers

As you've probably noticed by now, most of Netflix's new offerings this week are pretty pretty pretty dark. Natural Born Killers won't cleanse your pallet but it will give you a tick on your Controversial Films To Watch Before I Die list. Released in 1994, it helped cement a dramatic character change for Woody Harrelson, who continued his 180-degree sprint from Cheers by taking on the role of Mickey Knox, in this Oliver Stone-directed satire which apes the story of Bonnie & Clyde. Together with his wife, played by Juliette Lewis, they terrorise the residents of New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada, as Robert Downey Jr. and Tommy Lee Jones pick up the key supporting roles. In the UK, the original cinema release was delayed amidst fears of copycat killings abroad, and was finally released on VHS (remember that?) in 2001, following a series of high-profile murders and massacres. The controversial Natural Born Killers shoots its way onto Netflix on Jan 27th.
