67 WTF Moments From The Terminator Franchise

2. An Ending To Make Grown Men Cry - Terminator 2: Judgment Day

If you've ever seen Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's classic TV show Spaced, you'll probably remember the line when Pegg's character says mid-breakup, "You think I'm unemotional, don't you? I can be emotional. Jesus, I cried like a child at the end of Terminator 2." And though it was a joke, it's funny precisely because it's true. Seeing John's new father figure suddenly ripped away from him in order to protect the future is heartbreaking enough, and having to see such an awesome character go into the molten steel is just, well, very bittersweet to say the least. Who knew that a movie about robots trying to destroy each other could wring genuine emotion out of audiences? Sadly, though, the series has never got even close to this sort of feeling since.
