7. Dream
Like Transmetropolitan, the Sandman comics were originally destined for a movie adaptation around a decade ago, although it seems we had a lucky escape with this one. Creator Neil Gaiman and the fans blasted the draft scripts, and Gaiman went as far as to say that what he read was the worst script possible. While he toyed with the idea of a movie adaptation as long as someone who was passionate about the material was behind the steering wheel, it seems this is not a movie we're going to see any time soon... Because he's getting his own TV show. Well, maybe... Neil Gaiman and a few bigwigs at HBO have been playing with the idea for around two years, but I doubt it's going anywhere quickly, despite Neil's declaration that he'd like the project to get off the ground soon. Personally, I'd prefer to see a movie based on Sandman than a TV show, but that's just my personal opinion. So, there are my seven characters of the comic-book universe that I think deserve a decent chance on the silver screen. But what do you think?
