7 Films That Eerily Predicted Future Roles

3. Ben Affleck - Jersey Girl / Batman V Superman

Jersey Girl came during the middle of Ben Affleck’s dark career period, where he couldn’t pick a decent project to save his life. This includes Gigli, Paycheck and *shudders* Surviving Christmas, and while Jersey Girl doesn’t stink in the same way as any of these masterworks, it’s still a misfire.

Given that it was written and directed by Kevin Smith there’s naturally going to be lots of comic book references, one of which feels especially prophetic. During a scene where Affleck picks his daughter up from school in his street sweeper, he sarcastically dubs the vehicle “The Batmobile”, which she doesn't seem impressed by.

The film also features a surprise cameo by Will Smith, who would go on to play Deadshot in Suicide Squad, where he’s get captured by - who else? - Affleck’s Batman. Of course, Ben also played a similarly brooding superhero in Daredevil, which he claims is the only film he regrets making; harsh words from the star of Gigli.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
