7 Legitimate Reasons Why Cats Isn't As Bad As You Think
1. It Dared To Take A Risk
So many memorable films have come from taking a risk. Many projects started out knowing that people might despise them, but the filmmakers wanted to tell the story anyway. In many cases, this works out because the creators have a clear vision. This is something that Tom Hooper and the producers tried to do, they may have failed, but they tried.
It's noble to see someone attempt to bring something so niche to the screen. Since the industry often relies on existing properties, we very rarely experience something completely unfamiliar. Although Cats itself depends on it's established reputation, there was no guarantee that audience members would appreciate it, but they decided to make it anyway.
It was terrible, it was a film that failed substantially, and although it had elements that worked, the final product was a failure. But to even try to make something as weird and niche as this shows bravery, creativity and a willingness to try something different. This doesn't always pay off, but when it does, it makes classics. At least they tried.
