7 Major Roles Jennifer Lawrence Wanted (But Didn't Get)

Casting is of utmost importance when it comes to the Star Wars franchise: should the studio drop the ball during casting, it can lead to some major issues. This was made evident when Disney announced that actor Alden Ehrenreich's would be stepping into the role of Han Solo in the then-upcoming eponymous film. While some were content with the choice, fans complained that Ehrenreich didn’t really look or act much like the notorious smuggler.

Such was also the case with Daisy Ridley’s involvement in 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A critical and financial success for Disney, a vocal minority announced their displeasure with the casting choice as Ridley was a relative Hollywood outsider at the time.

Among a host of other established actresses, Jennifer Lawrence was among those who tried out for the role. Lawrence was already an established actress at the time, and audiences likely would have been much more accepting of a familiar face. Plus, given that Disney was trying to launch a brand new storyline in the Star Wars universe, the seal of approval from a beloved Hollywood starlet would have gone a long way in terms of fan acceptance.
