7 Most Overlooked Films of the 2000s

6. MacGruber

Stay with me here. I know you are really tempted to give up on this article now and say it's lost all credibility, but just give me a chance to explain myself. The MacGruber sketches on Saturday Night Live never made me laugh. Will Forte is a very funny man, but the sketches just weren't funny. So when I heard that there was going to be a MacGruber movie, I naturally assumed it would be horrible. Not only because it was a movie about MacGruber, but because it was also a Saturday Night Live movie, and those have been mostly terrible. So imagine my surprise when I began reading some good reviews from critics I respect. The movie was mostly trashed by everyone, and it bombed at the box office, but there was a decent number of people who strongly defended the movie. So I watched MacGruber, and realized just how insanely funny this movie is. Credit has to be given to Forte, who really commits to doing some incredibly humiliating things in this movie. Credit also has to be given to Val Kilmer, who plays the villain of the movie, and has a name which sets the tone for the entire movie. There are some things in this movie you can never unsee. But you will laugh so hard at them that you will forgive the fact that they are permanently seared into your brain. This is an insane, vulgar, hilarious comedy. Check it out.
