7 Over-Looked Hints That Suicide Squad Will Be Awesome

3. Katana

Okay, let me start off with a simple one: her sword EATS SOULS. What more do you need? That's deeply exciting stuff. Not to mention that the costume designers have nailed Katana's look in a real-world setting and actress Karen Fukuhara looks incredible. The filmmakers have gone on record talking about the character's tragic backstory and she seems like exactly the kind of reluctant hero the team needs; she's not a bad person like the majority of the team, but rather she is Rick Flag's (Joel Kinnaman) right hand woman/bodyguard. And speaking of a tragic backstory, boy does she have one; her husband was murdered by her brother-in-law and his soul is trapped in the sword she carries around.. In the source material, Katana was originally a member of The Outsiders - a team founded by Batman to act as a sort-of black ops Justice League. The implications for Katana's inclusion here in Suicide Squad are obvious; imagine a film down the line based on The Outsiders? Let's not forget that at some moments in time Outsiders team members have included Nightwing, Red Arrow (aka Green Arrow's onetime protege, Speedy) and the Martian Manhunter, allowing for some intriguing future character interactions.
