When movie series wield time travel and soft reboots as casually as the X-Men, plotholes are to be expected, but some are easier to overlook than others.

One of the biggest is how little the central characters have aged between the events of First Class and Apocalypse, two films that sit 21 years apart on the same timeline.

X-Men fans have allowed things like duplicate characters to slide in the past, and some have pointed out that mutant DNA may not be as prone to the effects of ageing as its human counterpart - but that doesn't explain why the series' human characters are also seemingly immune to time.

Rose Byrne’s Moira MacTaggart must have one hell of a beauty regime going on to stave off the ravages of 21 years.
