7 Ways Jared Leto's Joker Will Be Different To Heath Ledger

4. A New Enemy Demands A New Modus Operandi

We don't know yet how the Joker will slot into the storyline, but given the supervillain nature of the film then the dynamic he has with the characters will be very different to the mano a mano good-versus-evil face-off of The Dark Knight. Obviously, that€™s partly to do with the fact that he would be attempting to battle the combined forces of several of world€™s biggest baddies; such a comprehensively different set of adversaries necessarily means formulating a comprehensively different method of evil-doing. It€™s not the same battle between good and evil - or, more accurately, order and chaos - which Ledger€™s Joker fought. It€™s more about the battle of egos and pride between villains who are all acting in their own interests, doing good with the Suicide Squad not because they want to but because they need to get out of prison. The Joker taking a band of enemies who basically agree with his viewpoint but can€™t defect because of the micro-bombs sat inside them to ensure good behaviour is a really interesting conceit and is likely to mean the Joker's propensity for random acts of violence is likely to get dialled down a bit - random acts of violence are kind of what the Suicide Squad are all about anyway - and instead something more maniacal.
