7 Ways The Arrowverse Is Better Than The DCEU

5. Variety Of Distinctive Tones

It's not just characters that need to be distinct from each other sometimes. In both the DCEU and the MCU in may seem like all the entries in the franchise could have been directed by the same person. The DCEU tends to lean towards darker narratives, even in its considerably lighter films like Wonder Woman and Shazam! (yes, even Shazam! is deceptively dark). The MCU on the other hand prefers the lighter tones, with the exception being the end sequence of Infinity War.

While there's nothing inherently bad about this, it doesn't always keep things as fresh and exciting as it should, especially in a world that's at risk of being over-saturated with comic book adaptations.

Fortunately, the Arrowverse, while mostly lighthearted, reaches for a series of distinct tones and even genre variation. The mother show - Arrow - drew in much attention through its darker interiors and violent delights, while The Flash evoked a greater sense of optimism and cheesy galore. Having such strong contrasts in tone is a great way to connect with a wider viewership, almost guaranteeing that one of these shows will work for you.
