7 Ways The Arrowverse Is Better Than The DCEU
1. The Crossovers
If you've been watching the Arrowverse, or even just been reading this list, you knew this was coming: the crossovers. Or rather, the holy grail of comic book story-telling. The Arrowverse wasn't the first form of mainstream comic book media to have crossovers, after all the MCU had done so in 2012's The Avengers. However, it did change what a mainstream crossover could be.
The Arrowverse's crossovers came from humble beginnings, featuring an annual two-part story from Arrow and The Flash, as well as a one-part story from The Flash and Supergirl. The stories weren't revolutionary and the stakes were relatively low, but the novelty and charm of the unaccustomed character interactions bolstered the shows' respective ratings.
Then came Invasion! A three-part story crossing over episodes of Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow - including the character Supergirl - that united the Arrowverse's main superheroes to defeat a race of aliens, named the Dominators. Like previous crossovers, the plot wasn't quite what it should have been, but the scale had grown immensely.
The following year, Crisis on Earth X was born. Move over Justice League and Avengers, because the world's greatest team-up has entered. The story saw the casts of all shows attending the wedding of Barry Allen and Iris West, before it's interrupted by their Nazi counterparts from parallel Earth X (yes, really). The crossover had everything from entertaining interactions, blockbuster action, romance, the return of old faces, and saying sad goodbyes the familiar and loved ones. What Crisis on Earth X accomplished put both Justice League and Endgame to shame.
If the CW had a budget as large as HBO or a Disney blockbuster, this wouldn't even be up for discussion. Bring on Crisis on Infinite Earths!
