7 X-Men That Badly Need Recasting and Who Should Play Them

4. Jean Grey

Despite dying in X-Men: The Last Stand, any comic book fan will know that Jean Grey (aka The Phoenix) doesn€™t stay dead for long. Unfortunately for Famke Janssen, her performance as The Phoenix in The Last Stand was so loathed, that when they do decide to bring this character back from the dead, audience outcry will demand a new actress. Also, if we are recasting Cyclops with a big Hollywood name like Ryan Gosling, we could do with someone a little better known to play his onscreen girlfriend/ wife than the former bond girl. Plus, as ageist as this may sound (hopefully I get credit for who I said as Storm), Famke is almost fifty, and Jean could probably and should probably be played as a younger, more energetic, more student like actress in any upcoming film. Who Should Play Them: Rachel McAdams. More current, younger, and a better actress than Famke, Rachel McAdams (Mean Girls, Midnight in Paris, Sherlock Holmes) is perfect for the role of Jean Grey. As the long list of movies she has stared in in the last few years proves, she can play pretty much any role well. And arguably, the most important quality Jean needs to possess is the ability to be completely charming and lovable as Jean, and a complete bitch as The Phoenix. If you€™ve seen both The Notebook and Mean Girls (two actually really good chick flicks€ admit it) then you know how well she can play both. Also, if we are casting Ryan Gosling as Cyclops, who better to cast than his former Notebook cast member and ex-long term girlfriend. Proven chemistry plus a history of passion, tell me why this wouldn€™t be the perfect Jean and Scott. But if you hate The Notebook that much... how about Emma Stone???
