8 Actors Who Switched It Up Perfectly
3. Adam Driver - Marriage Story
Adam Driver has seen a relatively fast rise to leading man status in his career, something that has been truly wonderful to track.
In the beginning, Driver took roles in things like Lincoln and What If - movies that are vastly different from one another, but that gave him the chance to show that he wasn't a one-dimensional actor. It seemed for a time that he might be one of those actors such as Ed Harris, who has had a phenomenal career but not too many people would recognise him from his films on a daily basis.
It wasn't until BlacKkKlansman that he received real acclaim for his abilities, playing an undercover cop in a chapter of KKK members. His Oscar-nomination spoke volumes for the work he did and led him to his first real out and out lead role in a worthy drama.
In Marriage Story, Driver was exceptional .His visceral emotions were hidden behind a very thin veil that slipped at several points in the movie. Opposite Scarlett Johansson, Driver turned in his first real performance of heavyweight power in a very realised film.
Adam Driver hadn't played a straight down the line character in that same way before, usually appearing as skewed or very self-aware characters that had a comedic twist to them.
Another Oscar-nomination and widespread critical adulation followed and we all wait to see what he'll do next.
