8 Actors Who Were Sued For Quitting Movies
1. Whoopi Goldberg - Theodore Rex
Life can be extraordinary sometimes, as the idea of someone being sued for not wanting to appear in a buddy cop movie with a dinosaur sounds like a joke from BoJack Horseman, not real life. But that's what happened to Whoopi Goldberg, as she found herself strong-armed into sharing the screen with a T Rex.
Theodore Rex is, to date, the most expensive direct-to-video movie of all time, and that spells a great deal about its quality. The film is an unfunny mess that makes Goldberg look foolish, which is probably why she tried her best to back out of it before filming began.
Her agreement to appear was only verbal, so she tried to back out, but producer Richard Gilbert threatened her with a lawsuit. After seeing what happened to Kim Basinger with Boxing Helena, it seemed Whoopi was in a bind.
Goldberg agreed to star in the film to quell a potential financial disaster, so long as she received a drastic pay rise. She succeeded in this agreement, but alongside the tasty paycheck came a Razzie Award for Worst Actress.
It just goes to show you that the threat of a lawsuit can make you do crazy things, like agreeing to star in this terrible movie.
