2. John Cusack Hated Better Off Dead & Told Its Director That It Was The Worst Movie He'd Ever Seen
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. That's the worst movie I've ever seen. Most people would probably agree that I've picked a good one. For John Cusack, though, the worst movie he's ever seen is the actually great and underappreciated '80s comedy
Better Off Dead. I don't know why. Its director doesn't know why. I'm not sure that even John Cusack knows why. The story goes that Cusack, upon watching it for the first time, left after 20 minutes. The next day, he told director Savage Steve Holland that it was the "worst movie" he'd ever seen. Holland was obviously confused by this, because he (rightly) thought that he'd made a good, funny movie. Devastated that his friend despised it so much, though, he gave up on caring about movie making in general - Cusack went as far as to say that Holland had "used him," and that he never, ever wanted to work with the guy again. I mean, Jesus, I could understand if somebody didn't think
Better Off Dead was the greatest movie ever, but the worst? Ever? Lighten up, Cusack, you massive nutcase (big fan of your work).
