4. Jeff Goldblum In The Fly

Yuck. Can I just leave my summary at that? NO? Fine, let's elaborate.... In 1958, Kurt Neumann directed what would later go on to be a science fiction icon, The Fly. Starring Vincent Price, it featured a scientist experimenting with a matter teleportation device. Unfortunately upon testing it, a fly has gotten in with him, leading to him becoming an abominable half-man/half-fly. When it came time for remake (as all films do at some point,
tragically) there was one distinct advantage to making this film: improved makeup effects. While the original film's man-fly looked about like what you'd expect from a 1950's SF film, the remake 28 years later had drastic improvements, seen above, and was awarded an Oscar for its makeup.
