4. Superman Lives
"The one that was written by Kevin Smith" that's how I describe Superman Lives. Like the Batman franchise, the Superman series died after the embarrassing Superman IV and also like the Batman franchise, many attempts were made to reinvent the character. This one particular attempt caught my eye purely because it would have been interesting to see the Man of Steel portrayed in this way. Type in youtube "Kevin Smith Superman" and you'll see him telling his experience of writing the film. which includes the producers wanting silly things such as a non-flying Man Of Steel fighting a giant spider. Granted, those directives make the film sound rubbish, but the story of the film would have taken inspiration from The Death of Superman storyline. To test Superman mentally and physically, Brainiac and Doomsday would have been the two villains, and it's this duo which would have made the film awesome. These villains are what fans of Superman have been long waiting for, and hopefully we will get to see them on the big screen sooner rather than later. Frankly, a titanic battle between Superman and Doomsday would have been worth the price of admission alone. Eventually, Tim Burton and his writers were hired and the production as far as having Nicolas Cage being fitted for Superman, but with budget concerns, creative differences and the production date being pushed back, most of the creative team left in favor of other projects and the film ultimately died.
