In the comics, Mysterio started out his adult career as a special effects artist. He lived and breathed cinema, and his ability to make compelling illusions on the big screen eventually served him well in his career as a criminal, with Beck utilising movie magic - and characters - to trick Spidey during his many, many capers.

What does this have to do with the original Elementals? Well, in their first appearance from 1974's Supernatural Thrillers #8, the group transported a very Boris Karloff-looking Mummy to the modern day. It's the kind of illusion the original Mysterio would've employed, except in this story, it was the real deal.

We already know that the Elementals of Spider-Man: Far From Home will draw most of their inspiration from the aforementioned Elements of Doom, but their namesake still stems from the universe-hopping group originally spotlighted in Marvel's supernatural series.
