8 Biggest Movie And TV News This Week (April 19)

1. Bryan Singer Accused Of Raping 17 Year-Old Boy

The biggest and most shocking news to break this week was the fact that X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer is being sued for sexually abusing a 17 year-old boy. Michael Egan III claims that Singer sexually abused him in 1999, after giving him drugs and alcohol and promising him a role in the X-Men films. He claims to have been promised Hollywood fame while also enduring threats and sexual abuse in Hawaii and Los Angeles over the course of several years. This news broke Thursday, Singer's attorney soon releasing a statement claiming that the accusations were "absurd and defamatory," and accused Egan of seeking fame with his claims. While the validity of the lawsuit remains unclear, many are wondering what this means for Days of Future Past, which hits theaters on May 23rd. Singer will reportedly remain out of the public eye for the time being, and has already cancelled an appearance at WonderCon this weekend. He will also remain absent from any promotional tours and premieres for Days of Future Past, and 20th Century Fox is likely to refrain from mentioning his name in any promotional material until the dust clears.
