5. Elektra

Ben Affleck's Daredevil and spin-off Elektra are relics from that awkward time when studios were still trying to figure comic book movies out. The two films are a bizarre blend of camp and grittiness, where the actors are either too dour or way too over the top (hello there Colin Farrell). Elektra in particular suffered from the studio wanting to make a spin-off, but not knowing what they wanted it to be. The result is a lame action movie that fans hated and which badly mishandled the character. Even Jennifer Garner is quoted as saying it sucked and she only made it out of contractual obligation. How To Do It Elektra herself is a great, gutsy character with a lot of rich backstory to be explored. With female action characters proving increasingly popular with audiences (Katniss Everdeen, Imperator Furiosa) this could be the movie €“ alongside Wonder Woman €“ to show that a female led comic book movie can totally work on the big screen. With Elodie Yung being cast as Elektra for season two of Daredevil she could be €“ assuming she survives the season €“ a great choice for a solo big screen adventure.
