8 Comic Book Characters That Deserve Another Movie (And How To Do It)

3. The Punisher

The Punisher should be an easy character to adapt into a movie, yet after a record three attempts none of them have worked. Each movie failed in unique ways; the Dolph Lundgren version was a cheap shoot €˜em up, the Tom Jane one was a total bore and the Ray Stevenson edition was too damn crazy for general audiences. For such a simple idea €“ armed vigilante kills bad people €“ Frank Castle has thus far proven near impossible to turn into a franchise. Maybe the fact that he€™s a brutal killer instead of a straight forward hero is part of the problem. How To Do It Just like Elektra, maybe the Daredevil TV show holds the answer. Jon Bernthal has been cast as Frank Castle for season two, a decision that was an instant hit with the normally fickle fanbase. If he proves to be the breakout star of the show, maybe Marvel would consider launching a range of darker movies for the MCU. The Punisher is the icon for the dark side of the company anyway, so he€™d be the perfect choice. If they abandon the campiness of the previous versions and make a gritty, old fashioned action film with an actor on the verge of stardom, then The Punisher could finally have a movie worthy of his name.
