8 Continuity Flaws That Ruin A Film Series During A Binge Watch
4. Jamie Lloyd Never Existed - Halloween H20
Jamie Lee Curtis called it a day with horror movies after Halloween II, deciding she didn’t want to get typecast. The idea of revisiting Laurie Strode twenty years later held some appeal, though, so she helped develop a sequel based on the idea.
The sticky issue there is that Halloween IV: The Return Of Michael Myers states Laurie died in a car crash, which is why Michael stalks her daughter Jamie instead. The poor girl gets an awful time of it through parts four to six; she’s stalked constantly, stabbed, her friends die, she’s kidnapped by a cult and - to top it off - she’s eventually shredded in a farming machine.
Halloween 7 decided not to deal with any of that because it was too convoluted, and would have made Laurie look like the worst parent ever - it’s hard to have sympathy for a woman who fakes her death, abandons her daughter and leaves her to be chased by a murderous Captain Kirk fan.
After investing in the character for three movies, however, it’s jarring that Jamie’s existence is just wiped out.
