4. Ad-Supported Streaming
We’re all well acquainted with ads on our videos thanks to Facebook and Youtube, but for the most part the platforms we consider streamers operate on a subscription basis and are ad free.
This is likely to be the exception rather than the rule, and platforms like Hulu have already adopted the Spotify model, which is free to use while you suffer through the ads, but also offers a premium subscription service which is ad free.
Consumers are used to seeing ad supported streaming on catch up services too, where it barely raises an eyebrow, perhaps because the content is still tethered to traditional TV models. But imagine how much less joyful it would be to binge watch Stranger Things with a commercial break every 30 minutes. Here’s hoping that doesn’t happen.
