3. Daken's Death

With Hugh Jackman's tenure as Wolverine about to come to an end, Fox have a few options open to them. Recast the role, leave the character on the shelf for a while, or introduce a new Wolverine. If it's the latter, why not bring in Wolverine's son, Daken? The two have no real love for each other, and utilising him as this movie's big bad could definitely work. However, the opportunity to take things down a very dark path also exists. Rather than having Daken take over the franchise, why not show Logan forced to make the same hard choice he did in the comics? In order to put an end to his son's plans to wipe out the X-Men, Wolverine drowned him, holding his head under the water until his healing factor could no longer repair the damage which had been done. It was a shocking and upsetting moment to see play out, and one which might work well here.
