6. 2AM: The Smiling Man

A short film that plays out the events of The Smiling Man story, this bizarre little movie shouldn't be half as effective as it is for the simple fact nothing happens other than a weird man doing a jaunty jig in the middle of the night. I'm sure most of us have busted out worse dance moves in far more public places at two o'clock in the morning when the Frosty Jacks is flowing freely - but still, this guy takes the biscuit since his special dance fight move turns the spooky to 100.

The original tale follows the experience of a man walking home at night who stumbles across the smiling man, who dances down the road in as unsettling a way as you can imagine (you might have to try hard) before giving chase - all with an abnormally wide grin plastered across his face the entire time.

Whether pinging off his t*ts or just having a really lovely walk home, we will never know. The whole weird tale is based on the genuinely unnerving tone of the story however, and this translates excellently through to the movie for a visual kick on just how strange the encounter would be. It's short enough to give it a chance in both written and film form, and a neat little example of how creepypasta can be subtle as well as scary.
