8. The Mask Vs Lobo

Both of these characters are anti-heroes, of course, not outright heroes (indeed, when Lobo was first introduced in the comic books he was an outright villain), but I simply had to include this as a potential movie idea. The duo came up against each other in the two-part crossover comic "Lobo Vs The Mask" (February-March 1997), in which Lobo is hired to find and kill the "Ultimate Bastich" - a being who has destroyed numerous planets in his wake. His hunt leads him to Earth where a petty thief has become Big Head AKA The Mask. The pair battle in a sequence that completely decimates Manhattan until Big Head finally offers to "help" Lobo find the previous wearer to help him with his quest. The duo travel through space, inevitably causing mass destruction - as you would expect from such a pairing. In a space truck stop, Lobo takes the mask for himself, puts it on, and causes even more damage than had previously been caused. Then, a black hole sends him back in time by a month and he finds out that he is, in fact, the Ultimate Bastich. He wakes up on Earth and realises this, so he tosses the mask (of course, he throws it in the same spot the thief found it, given that it was him who dropped it in the first place). Lobo breaks the time loop when he meets his past self and turns his past self in for the reward money. It's a crazy, weird, complicated story that would be so high-concept that it could just work - especially if it was conveyed as a dark, gritty film instead of the light-hearted nature of the first Mask movie. Of course, getting these two respective characters together on screen - given that one is from DC Comics and the other is from Dark Horse Comics - could be a lot more complicated than getting them together in a comic, but it would be well worth the effort and cost.
