8 Hopelessly Tangled Movie Continuities

8. The Terminator Series

While the logic of the original Terminator isn't airtight, it is relatively easy to follow. The timeline presented is basically a closed loop, where certain events are destined to repeat themselves.

It's only when the sequels came along with their time travel shenanigans that things go to hell. T3, Salvation and Genisys all contradict each other, which makes it near impossible to link the movies together. For example, John Connor meets his future wife Kate in T3 and shes pregnant with his child in Salvation, yet Genisys ignores both the character and her child. John also meets his father Kyle Reese during the finale of Salvation, but Genisys retcons this to have them meet much earlier.

The films cant decide on dates either; the original films had Judgement Day happening in 1997, T3 postponed it to 2004 and then Genisys makes it 2017. This means there are now so many different timelines its impossible to know what counts anymore, and it only gets more tangled with each passing sequel.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
